ES follows a man trapped in a recurring nightmare: every night, he finds himself accused by a circle of mediums of attempting to interfere with their secret, ongoing séance. The punishment is always the same — they kill him — forcing him to wake in terror and sinking him deeper into an excruciating, potentially fatal insomnia. In a last, desperate attempt to escape this cycle, he turns to Doctor Reins, a psychiatrist known for unconventional methods in treating sleep disorders. Using a device that projects precise light frequencies into the retina, she manipulates neural networks to induce a trance-like state, granting him a fragile degree of control over his dream. But mastery over nightmares has its price — and some boundaries, once crossed, cannot be receded.

"ES" is a short film born from the fusion of two very different creative eras. Its foundation lies in original footage shot years ago for a previous short film — material that, at the time, could not fully realize its narrative ambition. When the original was produced, the visual tools now provided by generative AI simply did not exist. As a result, the story remained incomplete, unable to convey its intended scope and atmosphere.

Today, with the support of Synthetic Frame's AI management algorithms specializing in cinematic workflows, that original material has been reimagined, reorganized, and expanded through entirely new AI-generated sequences. This hybrid approach merges the authenticity of live-action performances  with new, fully synthetic visuals that complete the once-unfinished vision. The result is not a remaster, but an autonomous work with its own dramatic identity, born from the creative interplay between traditional filmmaking and advanced generative technologies.
