The Monsters She Fears are Real. The One Who Protects Her is The Worst.

Young Lisa (Elda Testa) lives in perpetual fear, believing the dark creatures she so skillfully draws will manifest and end her life. In other words, her house is a trap. Her lovable Grandpa (Harold Thomas) offers her the ultimate comfort: he assures her the monsters aren't real, but then confides a secret—even if they were, she's safe. He is known in certain circles as "The Prince of the Abominables," promising to dispatch any unwelcome visitor in a far more awful way. Reassured, Lisa sleeps quietly. Her Grandpa will indeed ensure her safety, but protecting her will require much more than just a goodnight lullaby.

FINALE is not just a dark fantasy short about love and fear; it's a groundbreaking proof-of-concept for hybrid content production using the technologies developed in-house by Synthetic Frame.

The film was initially shot with a low budget in a grueling 24-hour marathon using a Red Camera to capture authentic, human-generated footage. This original, raw material was then AI-augmented, transforming the final product. This process—blending essential human creativity with sophisticated, AI-powered technology— has allowed a very small, agile team to achieve the visual complexity and higher production value typically reserved only to bigger production companies. FINALE demonstrates how even FX-demanding storytelling can now be managed  by independent creators, effectively democratizing high-end filmmaking.

An entertainment lawyer and a university professor respectively, both with a passion for horror, Giovanni and Vittorio make short horrors (and write them too) since their very early years, sometimes under aliases and frequently experimenting new formats that later become industry norm - such as the first Italian web series, “The Sleep of Reason”, produced and aired by Studio Universal, which was their experiment in breaking a complex narrative into 10-minute segments. They’re doing it again as their next project is a 80 minute feature broken down in 2-minute micro-horror segments. A graduate from NYU Law School, Giovanni - who worked for a Hollywood Studio for most of his career as its Southern European representative - is now specialized in AI and blockchain-powered business models for the entertainment industry. Vittorio, a longtime screenwriter and director for Italian TV, teaches story editing and is an expert in distant learning and digital media. Together, they have directed "Xchange", "Frequencies", "The Sleep of Reason", "Ultimo-mostro", "Lightless" and "ES", the latter being the first in their experimental "hybrid horrors" with AI-augmented real footage.
